Cyber Desk · Insight. Series: Digital disputes, as Indian courts actually see them.

Staging server credentials in a slide deck are still credentials.

A pitch PDF to investors includes hostnames, usernames, passwords “for demo.” Someone uses them. The deck was meant as theatre. The login is still a key. Courts and investigators ask how the credentials were disclosed, who was authorised, what system was entered, and whether “staging” changes the story — or only the label. Negligence and unauthorised access questions can sit in the same file. A slide does not make a password less of a password.

“Demo only” is a caption.

Access is still access.
