Cyber Desk · Insight. Series: Digital disputes, as Indian courts actually see them.
Labelling a clip ‘satire’ in the caption is not a complete legal costume.
A political deepfake drops with a sticker: for entertainment, parody, not real. The caption says satire before the share button does. That label may matter to intent and context — but it is not armour by itself. Harm, identifiable likeness, false statement of fact, and how ordinary viewers received the clip still have to be tested. A defence framing in the caption does not automatically dissolve defamation, impersonation, or election-offence questions. Satire is an argument. It still needs a file that supports it.
“For entertainment” in the caption.
The harm and the likeness still get examined.
