Cyber Desk · Insight. Series: Digital disputes, as Indian courts actually see them.
‘Internal only’ Slack export lands in a rival’s inbox. Labels do not travel with the file.
An ex-employee forwards a #product-roadmap export. The channel said internal. The PDF in the rival’s mail does not carry that label as a shield. Confidentiality turns on what the information was, how it was obtained, what duties applied, and what was done with it — not on a channel name that stayed behind in Slack. “Internal only” is a workplace instruction. Once the file moves, the dispute is about confidence and misuse, not the emoji on the channel.
Labels stay in the workspace.
The file leaves without them.
