Group admin is not automatically publisher of every message in the group

30 July 2026 · Series — Digital Disputes

Group admin is not automatically publisher of every message in the group.

When an admin is arrested because a member posted threats, the shortcut is: “you control the group, so you published it.” Control of a chat is not the same as authorship of every line that appears in it. Courts still look at who wrote it, who forwarded it, what the admin knew, and what they did — or failed to do — once it was there.

Admin is a role.

It is not automatic authorship of the whole thread.
