Cyber Desk · Insight. Series: Digital disputes, as Indian courts actually see them.

A cyber cell closure report is not automatically a clean chit in the civil suit.

Police close the FIR. Someone waves the closure as proof nothing happened. Civil damages can still run on a different standard, different pleadings, and a different evidentiary package. Criminal closure may matter — it is not a stamp that ends every private claim. Parallel tracks stay parallel until a court of competent jurisdiction says otherwise. “Police closed it” is a fact. “Therefore no civil liability” is an argument that still has to be won.

Cyber cell closed the FIR.

The damages plaint can still be alive.
