Cyber Desk · Insight. Series: Digital disputes, as Indian courts actually see them.

Voice-clone of a CFO wiring instructions is old cheating with a new synthesizer.

Accounts receives a WhatsApp voice note. It sounds like the CFO — urgent transfer, new vendor account, do it before the board call. The voice is cloned. The instruction is fake. The offence is not “AI fraud” as a new category by itself. It is impersonation and dishonest inducement with a synthetic voice instead of a spoofed email. The file still needs who sent the note, who acted on it, whether verification steps were skipped, and where the money went. New tool. Old cheating skeleton.

Synthetic voice note.

Verification skipped? That is still the centre of the file.
